$470,000 Settlement for Apartment Fire

The firm obtained a settlement of $470,000 on behalf of several people who were injured in an apartment fire. One part of good legal representation is finding a way to make sure our clients can recover for their injuries when there is more than one person responsible for the injury and one or more of those responsible can’t be identified.

In this case the firm’s clients were injured when a fire started as a result of a heating device that was inappropriately modified. The person who modified the device could not be identified, but the firm’s investigation revealed that the apartment owner did not equip the apartment with an adequate number of fire alarms and the ones that were there had dead batteries. In spite of the case’s difficulties, and the limited insurance coverage on the building, the firm was able to settle the case for $470,000 prior to trial.
