$350,000 Settlement for Obstetric Negligence During Delivery

Jeff Zenna represented a 21-year-old woman who sustained an injury at the time of her birth. When she was being delivered, one of her shoulders became stuck under her mother’s pubic bone in a condition known as shoulder dystocia. The doctor failed to use the proper maneuvers to free the shoulder without injury. Instead, the doctor exerted too much pressure on the head and neck, causing an injury to the nerves which control shoulder and arm movement. Although the woman, with therapy, eventually regained a very significant amount of her arm function, Jeff was still able to secure this settlement for her 21 years after the injury occurred.
