$1,000,000 Million Settlement for Failure to Timely Diagnose Endocarditis

Carol Forte obtained a one million dollar settlement at trial once all of the testimony was heard and the jury was deliberating. In this case, an emergency room doctor failed to realize that the patient had risk factors for endocarditis (a heart infection); and discharged the patient with fever without doing any tests. The patient died after surgery for endocarditis two weeks later.
