$340,000 Settlement for Legal Malpractice

Partner Ken Elwood obtained a $340,000 settlement from a lawyer who failed to timely file a lawsuit on behalf a man injured on the job by a defective voltage control panel. The lawyer, who handled the client’s worker’s compensation claim for flash burn injuries, neglected to investigate whether or not the voltage control panel was safe, even though he had promised he would do so. Mr. Elwood was able to locate the control panel and had it analyzed by an engineer, who established that the product was unsafe and caused the man’s burn injuries.
