$825,000 Verdict for Fall from a Balcony (Affirmed by Appellate Division)

In November 2004, Mitch secured a jury verdict for a woman locked out on the balcony of a friend’s 2nd-floor apartment because of an improperly installed security bar on a sliding door. Attempting to climb down, the woman fell and sustained multiple injuries, including a spinal fracture requiring surgery. The jury awarded $825,000 and the case was appealed by the defendant. The Appellate Division recently issued their opinion affirming the jury verdict award, plus interest.
