$3,250,000.00 Settlement – Birth Injury – Improper Pre Natal Care

Blume Forte attorney Carol Forte recovered $3,250,000.00 in a case involving improper prenatal care. The mother was seen repeatedly in a local hospital high-risk prenatal clinic. Her blood was tested to determine if she was at higher than average risk for delivering a child with a genetic abnormality. That blood test, called a quad screen, had shown a higher than average risk for having a child with Down Syndrome. She alleged that she was never told of this abnormal laboratory result. There was no documentation in the medical record by any person indicating that she had been given this result despite multiple visits to the clinic. She gave birth to a child with Down Syndrome who will now need special care for the remainder of her life.
