$650,000 Settlement for Slip & Fall on Ice

John Molinari represented a 71-year-old man who was walking in his apartment complex parking lot when he slipped and fell on ice. The property managers of the apartment complex admitted in their depositions that the snow and ice piles were a safety hazard. The plaintiff established through a weather expert that it had stopped snowing more than 24 hours prior to his slip & fall. Defendants countered that the plaintiff saw the ice and voluntarily walked onto it, causing his own injuries. The plaintiff sustained a right femur fracture requiring two surgeries and right shoulder tears requiring arthroscopic repair. The case resolved just before trial for $650,000.
