$600,000 Settlement for Negligent Prenatal Screening

The obstetrician for an African-American couple failed to screen the pregnant mother for sickle cell anemia in a recent case handled by the firm. Her internist also failed to perform this screening test which is readily available and which is standard medical procedure during a pregnancy.

The firm argued that the testing would have shown the baby was suffering from this condition, and that corrective steps could have been taken in time.

The firm obtained a $600,000 settlement for the parents.
