$1.15 Million Settlement for Neurosurgeon Causes Death of Patient

A 64-year-old factory worker slipped and fell. It was discovered that he had a benign back tumor which caused his fall. The man underwent a back operation, performed by a neurosurgeon, to remove the tumor. Instead of removing the tumor, the surgeon mistakenly removed normal blood vessels, causing ischemia and further injury to the spine. The man was transferred to another hospital because of the development of paraplegia and he died approximately one year later from complications of his injuries . Blume Donnelly principle, Michael Zerres, settled the case on behalf of the man’s wife and against the neurosurgeon for 1.15 million dollars.
