$1.3 Million Settlement for Cerebral Palsy Caused by Negligence of Obstetricians and Pediatrician

The cerebral palsy was caused by the negligence of the mother’s obstetricians and the pediatrician who failed to properly resuscitate the infant when he developed breathing problems shortly after birth. Today, the boy walks with leg braces and must have assistance in the public school that he attends.

During the pregnancy, the mother reported her concern that she was not gaining enough weight, but her obstetricians did not conduct tests to check the health of the fetus. The $1.3 million settlement finalized by Ms. Forte and approved by a Morris County Judge in November 1998 will cover medical expenses and compensation for the family.
