$1.45 Million Settlement for Failure to Detect Heart Condition

Blume Donnelly principal Carol Forte procured a $1.45 million settlement on behalf of the mother of a five-year-old girl who was born with a congenital heart defect, which was associated with the child’s having been born with Down Syndrome. The case arose after the mother’s physician’s failed to detect evidence of the condition on routine prenatal screening tests. The recovery is being used to pay for the anticipated extraordinary medical expenses over the child’s lifetime.
