$800,000 Settlement for Doctor’s Oversight in Surgery

In 1988, a 40-year-old Jersey City woman developed adhesions and an extensive abdominal infection as the result of perforation of her bowel during a hysterectomy. The damage was unrecognized and un-repaired by the surgeon and his assistant.,After numerous subsequent surgeries for corrections of fistulas, abnormal drainage, bladder damage and infection, she also suffered repeated urinary tract infections until the bladder damage was surgically repaired. Blume Donnelly principal Carol Forte settled the case for $800,000.
