More Than 7,000 Softimals Toy Playsets Recalled for Choking Hazards

In conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Infinitoy, Inc. has issued a recall of approximately 7,134 playsets after it was discovered that the products posed a choking/aspiration hazard for children. According to a CPSC report, the plastic hats on the playset figures featured in the Softimals Building Toy Playsets are the reason behind the recall.

The affected toy models are the Super Safari Set model #30025 and the Deluxe Circus Train Set model #30040, which can be identified by the model number found on the lower right corner of the box’s back. These toys came in a white box with the words “Softimals, Build, Play, Repeat” and “Age 1½ to 5” printed on the front and back of the box. The playsets were sold in stores across the country and online at Amazon.com and Mindware.com from September 2012 to September 2013.

The removable blue and yellow plastic hats on some of the toys are what pose a choking hazard. There has been one reported incident of an 18-month-old child choking on a hat, but no injuries have currently been reported.

The CPSC recommends that all owners of the toys remove the plastic hat from the figures known as Safari Sam and Mighty Mike to prevent a choking incident. Infinitoy, Inc. can be reached by calling (888) 558-0933 or via the Safety/Recall link found at www.infinitoy.com. The company will provide consumers with a free replacement figure.
