ITR USA Recalls Commercial Tires Due to Sidewall Defect

ITR USA Inc., in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is recalling 51,003 Shandong Yongtai Negotiator Commercial H/T tires as the result of a defect in the sidewall that may cause bubbling or blistering, which in turn, can lead to tire failure and potentially accidents. The defective condition may lead to a sudden loss of tire pressure, which decreases the tire’s lifespan, the vehicle’s gas mileage and the driver’s ability to properly handle the vehicle.

The affected Shandong Yongtai Negotiator Commercial H/T tires, which fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles,” include sizes LT265/75R16 and LT235/85R16 and were manufactured from April 1, 2009 through May 31, 2011 and May 1, 2009 through May 31, 2011, respectively.

Although no remedy plan has been established as of yet, ITR USA was expected to begin the safety recall in July. Owners of the affected tires may call ITR USA for additional information at 1-818-715-7080. More information is also available through the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
