CPSC Announces Recall of Homelite Pressure Washer Surface Cleaner Attachments

In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, Homelite Consumer Products Inc. is voluntarily recalling approximately 40,000 surface cleaner attachments in the U.S. and 1,200 in Canada due to a laceration hazard. The attachments were sold exclusively at Home Depot and were manufactured in China.

The nozzle and spray bar of the surface cleaner attachment can break and detach, striking and/or breaking the plastic housing of the unit. The broken plastic housing, spray bar, and/or nozzle can strike consumers and poses a laceration hazard. There were nine incident reports involving the recalled attachments, including three reports of property damage and one report of laceration.

The affected products are drum-shaped surface cleaner attachments for pressure washers and have hexagonal brass-colored nozzles within a 15-inch plastic drum holding the spray bar. They were sold in orange or red colors with Homelite pressure washer models HL80835 and HL80833 and sold separately as EZ Clean model AEZ231022 and Powercare model AP31022A.

Consumers who own the recalled surface cleaner attachments are advised by the CPSC to stop using them immediately and contact Homelite for a replacement at no-cost.
