Fire Hazard Leads to Recall of Champion Power Equipment Portable Generators

Champion Power Equipment, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling approximately 8,600 portable generators due to a fire hazard. The defective generators were sold exclusively at Costco stores across the nation.

The CPSC has received 11 reports of fuel leaking from the portable generators, including eight reports of the generators catching fire. Two of these fire incidents resulted in property damage. No injuries have yet been reported.

This safety recall involves two models, both of which have a bar handle, two wheels, and a black frame with yellow and black control panels. The serial number and model number may be found on the handle-side of the generator, on a tag on the crossbar above the yellow generator end cap.
