HALO Innovations has announced a recall of approximately 27,000 units of its HALO SleepSack Wearable Blankets with Pink Satin Flowers due to choking hazards. As announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), petals from the floral embellishments on the blankets can detach, posing a choking hazard for any child sleeping in the product.
These products are sack-shaped zip-up blankets with cut-outs for baby’s arms who are wearing the SleepSack. These wearable blankets are 100% white cotton with pink-edged ruffles and a pink satin rose embellishment on the front., which is the focus of the recall. They also have a zipper down the center and a sewn bottom.
Products were sold in small and medium sizes exclusively at Babies R Us for approximately $25 from December 2011 through July 2013 in both stores and on the company’s website.
Specifically, SleepSack products with the GPU numbers 2701, 2781, 2886, 2887, 3007, 3035, and 3142 on the neck label are part of the recall. Please check the label under the primary neck label to find out if your product is affected.
Parents should immediately stop using the wearable blankets and contact HALO Innovations by calling (866) 819-8118, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or clicking the product recall link at www.halosleep.com (at the bottom of the web page). The company will provide instructions for removing and returning the flower and will provide a free replacement product.
Currently, there have been six reports of detaching petals, with one incident involving an infant choking on a detached petal. More about the recall can be found at http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2013/HALO-SleepSacks-Wearable-Blankets-Recalled/.
