Defective Nail Guns Cause Serious Eye Injuries

Hitachi Koki U.S.A. has issued a product defect recall for about 65,000 coil nailers that can cause serious eye injuries. According to an alert issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), these nailers may have a faulty feeder that could allow nails to be ejected sideways; posing a serious risk of personal injury to the person using the nail gun, or, to bystanders. So far, Hitachi Koki U.S.A. has received 37 reports of nails being ejected sideways; including 15 reports of injuries, mostly of the eye, with some resulting in partial blindness.

These coil nailers, which are used to propel nails into drywall, wood, or, other materials, were manufactured in Japan. From November 2002 through March 2006 these nailers were sold at home improvement stores such as Lowe’s and Home Depot, as well as online on sites such as Amazon.com.; and were priced between $350 and $400. If you own, or, use any of these defective products, please stop using them right away, and, contact Hitachi Koki U.S.A. for a free repair.
