28,000 Indie Strollers Recalled by Bumbleride due to Fall Hazard

By Blume Forte Fried Zerres & Molinari on February 15, 2012

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of approximately 28,000 Bumbleride Indie & Indie Twin Strollers due to a defect in the front wheel. This defect may cause the wheel to break at the axle hub, resulting in “stroller tip,” posing a fall hazard. The CPSC has received reports of 36 incidents where the front wheel cracked, two of which included minor injuries as the result of the stroller tipping.

The recalled strollers were sold online at Bumbleride.com and other online retailers as well as at Buy Buy Baby and other baby product retail stores nationwide from January 2009 to January 2012 for between $500 and $700.

The recall includes Bumbleride Indie Strollers with model numbers I-205, I-110, and I-107 and a date of manufacture (DOM) from January 2009 through August 2011. They were sold in a variety of colors. The DOM is located on a white rectangular sticker on the side of the seat frame. The recalled Bumbleride Indie Twin Strollers include model numbers IT-305, IT-111, and IT-108 and were also manufactured from January 2009 through August 2011. The DOM for the twin strollers is located on a white rectangular sticker on the underside of the handle.

Consumers of the recalled strollers should stop using them immediately and contact Bumbleride for a front wheel retrofit kit at no cost. For additional information, consumers may visit www.support.bumbleride.com or can contact Bumbleride at (800) 530-3930 or online at support@bumbleride.com.
