$55,000 Settlement for Employee Negligence

The firm represented a 24-year-old man who was a patron at a bar in southern New Jersey where he sustained injuries after being struck by the bar’s employees. The firm’s client blacked out and could not remember what precipitated the altercation at the bar. A police report from an eyewitness police officer indicated that the plaintiff was at fault, but plaintiff’s friends insisted that he was not at fault and was only struck as a result of an errant use of force by the employees of the bar. The firm filed suit, conducted discovery and deposed the police officer who ultimately conceded that she did not see the incident with clarity. Moreover, another objective witness testified that plaintiff did nothing wrong and the employees were at fault after which the case settled for $55,000.
