$900,000 Settlement for Boy Who Was Born with Thalassemia Major

The firm obtained a $900,000 recovery on behalf of a 13-year-old child born with thalassemia major, a hereditary disorder characterized by defective production of hemoglobin and which leads to decreased production and increased destruction of red blood cells. The firm was able to establish the mother’s obstetrician failed to perform adequate prenatal evaluation which would have shown the potential for the parents to be carriers of the thalassemia trait, failed to interpret testing, and, failed to prenatally diagnose that their son would be born with thalassemia.
