$1,000,000 Settlement for Failure to Timely Diagnose Post-Bariatric Surgery Infection

Carol Forte represented the estate of a woman who had bariatric surgery. She developed complications postoperatively which the defendants did not recognize in time to prevent widespread infection. The operative site had come apart internally, which led to contamination throughout her abdomen and bloodstream infection. Although she was returned to the operating room eventually, the infection and organ damage that resulted could not be overcome and she died.
