$500,000 Settlement for Rear-End Car Accident

Blume Donnelly partner Kenneth Elwood represented a woman who was struck from the rear by a truck when she was stopped at a stop sign. Her cervical and lumber disc herniations required discectomies and fusion surgeries. Complicating the matter was that the corporate defendant was involved in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Ken had to make appropriate applications to the bankruptcy court in order to get permission to litigate the case in state court. Ken also worked with a bankruptcy specialist to advise and consult with regard to the idiosyncrasies involved when a case is brought against corporate defendant in the midst of bankruptcy proceedings. Ken settled the case during trial for $500,000.
