Junior Woman’s Club Hosts Shopping Fundraiser to Benefit Cancer Stinks Foundation

The Junior Woman’s Club (JWC) hosted a shopping fundraising event in Westfield, New Jersey at St. Paul’s Church to benefit the Cancer Stinks Children’s Foundation, according to an article posted on the Westfield Patch.

The JWC sold festive scarves, chocolate-covered treats, and totebags, and the 10-year-old President of Cancer Stinks, Nicholas Tarabokia, also attended.

Nicholas had been diagnosed with cancer in 2006 when he was three-years-old, and had to struggle through three-and-a-half years of chemotherapy. In 2008, the beginnings of the Foundation were born when Nicholas expressed his frustration over his conditions with the phrase, “Cancer Stinks.” On his one-year anniversary of being cancer-free, at eight-years-old, Nicholas and his family decided to officially create the Cancer Stinks Children’s Foundation.

Nicholas and his family have delivered 140 “Nights of Love Packages,” or care boxes, to various New Jersey hospitals for sick children; bringing them some comforts of home while they are admitted at the hospital. The care packages include an impact-resistant, huggable, and washable night light that is never hot to the touch, “Brownie,” the official Cancer Stinks plush bear, and a picture frame so that they can keep a photo of those they love nearby at all times. Aside from the care boxes, Nicholas has organized collections, given speeches, and participated in numerous fundraising events for the cancer community.

It is because of the fundraising efforts of foundations like Cancer Stinks that scientists and medical professionals are able to make headway in cancer research. However, it is how healthcare professionals apply those research results that can make the most difference in a cancer patient’s prognosis and quality of life.

If you or a loved one has suffered as the result of a healthcare professional’s misdiagnosis, failure to properly or timely diagnose, or failure to effectively treat your cancer, the experienced New Jersey failure to diagnose cancer lawyers at Blume Forte can help you determine whether you may have a potential claim.
