Medication Error in Hospital- $250,000. settlement
Attorney - Ronald P. Goldfaden
Winter 2006
Partner Ronald P. Goldfaden, representing the family of a decedent, settled a claim surrounding the medical treatment of a 78 year
old man who died following his admission to a local hospital.
He was admitted to the hospital with complaints of abdominal
pain. He also had a rapid heart rate for which he was
given an I.V. drip of Cardizem, a medication used to slow the
heart rate. The I.V. drip was given too rapidly, and the
man died. The findings of the autopsy and a subsequent
investigation revealed that the cause of death was an overdose of Cardizem caused by a nurse’s negligence.
