J. Makowicz, Jr.
Winter 2006
In this medical malpractice/wrongful death case, a woman died
at 56 years of age due to undiagnosed colon cancer. Despite
a strong family history of the disease, her personal physician
did not obtain a history from her for 7 years after the first
office visit. When her physician learned of the family history,
he did not recommend any type of colorectal screening (including
colonoscopy) or perform any exams to screen for colon cancer.
Mitch settled this case on behalf of the estate for $600,000.
