Her obstetrician delayed performing a Caesarean section for more than an hour, even though the hospital's perinatologist had recommended one. The child's head became trapped in the pelvis during delivery, causing bleeding in the brain and blood clotting. The diminished blood flow and reduced oxygen to the brain resulted in permanent paralysis on the child's right side and developmental disabilities.
