Anesthesiologist's
Malpractice Settled for $ 1 Million
Attorney - John Blume
Fall 1997
The improper administration of epidural anesthesia to a woman in labor caused respiratory arrest. During the delay in her resuscitation, fetal distress occurred and an emergency caesarian section was necessary. The infant was delivered depressed and died one month later. The mother hemorrhaged and an emergency hysterectomy had to be performed. The settlement was obtained by John Blume who says that additional claims are pending against the hospital and house officer.
