- Dennis Donnelly Fall 1996 After her nose was fractured by a falling refrigerator door, a 39 year Hackensack woman had nasal surgery. Six months later, she sought treatment for pain in her jaw from the surgeon who initially performed nasal surgery. He then recommended and performed temporomandibular joint surgery which worsened her condition. Blume Goldfaden principal Dennis Donnelly argued that this surgery is normally recommended as a last resort. This unnecessary surgery causes the woman to suffer ongoing facial pain. The jury awarded $1.5 million, as well as $250,000 to her husband for loss of marital companionship. |
