Carol represented a 10 year old girl who fractured her leg while skiing. She required surgery to repair it and after the surgery she developed scar tissue around her knee. A manipulation under anesthesia was required and was done by her pediatric orthopedist. No x-ray was ordered after the manipulation and the child was sent to physical therapy. Several weeks later, after severe pain during physical therapy, an x-ray was taken and it was discovered that the leg had been fractured in a different location during the manipulation under anesthesia. Carol obtained a settlement in this case in the amount of $850,000.
