Over the course of 6 weeks, she had gone to both an emergency room and then a health clinic, complaining of shortness of breath. This was attributed by health care providers at both places, to fractured ribs, obesity and asthma. On the date of her death, she returned to the emergency room where a CT scan demonstrated the emboli, and treatment was begun, but she expired. She left two minor children. The case settled for 1.5 million dollars. |
