A construction worker was standing in a 4 x 8, three-sided, wooden box that was being raised by a forklift when it tipped over. The worker was thrown approximately 18 feet to the ground, which caused a burst fracture of the L-1 vertebra in his back. After a laminectomy, bone graft, and internal fixation, he continues to suffer back pain.
