Laura Carney represented a 13 year old boy who was crossing the street in Manalapan, New Jersey. An 18 year old motorist did not see him, struck him, and ran him over. The boy sustained fractures to his pelvis and both of his legs requiring surgery. Combined with a subsequent fall 2 months later while still on crutches, the injuries resulted in a leg length discrepancy. The defendant maintained a "no pay" position prior to trial. The matter settled in the third hour of jury deliberations for $200,000. out of the limited $250,000. in insurance coverage available.
