Blume Goldfaden Partner Kenneth Elwood represented a 41 year old married father of 2 who was struck head on by an SUV which crossed the center median on Route 130 in North Brunswick, New Jersey. The man was trapped in his vehicle for over one hour and had to be extricated with the jaws of life. He suffered numerous orthopaedic injuries, including a fractured hip, compound femur fracture, tibial plateau fracture, ulnar fracture and right wrist fracture, requiring several operative procedures. He suffered cognitive impairments with short term memory loss, post traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety, depression, and continues to receive cognitive therapy. He walks with an impaired gait, and it is anticipated that he will develop traumatic arthritis as a result of the numerous fractures. He will require additional surgeries. The matter settled during mediation.
